Growing up in western Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh, I found myself at a very young age being attracted to the beauty of the nature in the area and then the interplay between light and shadows on everything from trees and creeks to buildings and shapes. My father was also an avid amateur photographer who would let me tag along from time to time. It was with him that I discovered the ever alluring smell of stop bath and fixer.
In my senior year of high school I found myself working for an old commercial photographer who taught me the fine art of loading 8x10 film backs and using hot lights to light bright and shiny objects. Never one to be satisfied, I left him to work at a portrait and wedding studio. It is there that I learned the fine art of portrait lighting. I now find myself experimenting with both lighting style and numerous light sources to create my photography. Today I have gone back to my commercial photography roots and specialize in architectural and product photography. And yes, I do play with my food!!!
